Slaughter and May's Australian ally, Allens Arthur Robinson, is set to launch in the Singapore market after brokering a joint venture with local firm TSMP Law Corporation (TSMP).

The venture, which was announced today (23 April), goes live on 1 June and will practise under the banner Allens Arthur Robinson TSMP. The new office, which will have around 50 lawyers, is the latest addition to the firm's extensive South East Asia network and will focus primarily on corporate work.

The Australian firm already has a string of bases across the region, including offices in Cambodia, China and Papua New Guinea. The firm also added two new offices in Vietnam last year.

The Singapore venture is set to be the last international base set up under the stewardship of managing partner Tom Poulton, who stands down in from the top job in July.

Poulton, who has led the firm for nearly a decade, has helped to reposition Allens Arthur from a national practice to a sizeable player in the Asia-Pacific region. He will be succeeded by litigation partner Michael Rose.
