Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer finance partner Franco Campomori is set to become the latest partner to leave the firm following a wave of recent departures.

Milan-based Campomori is understood to be joining US firm Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe, with the West Coast giant's executive committee expected to announce the hire in the coming days.

The executive committee, mainly made up of US partners, is currently in discussions over the level at which Campomori will join, although it is understood he is likely to become a partner in the Milan banking and finance team.

His arrival will boost Orrick's Italian capability to 39 lawyers.

Meanwhile, Frankfurt-based dispute resolution partner Gunhild Schaefer is also set to leave Freshfields to take up a role at the highest German civil law court, the Bundesgerichtshof. Schaefer will leave the magic circle firm in the next couple of months.

The news comes after Freshfields has vowed to grow its partnership annually for the next five years.
