CMS Hasche Sigle, the German ally of CMS Cameron McKenna, has beefed up its patent law practice with the hire of a partner from Linklaters, it was announced yesterday (7 May).

Markus Deck, whose practice focuses on areas including forensic and advisory patents work, technology transfer and trade mark litigation, will join Hasche Sigle's Duesseldorf arm in June. Clients he has previously advised include Otis, Black & Decker, Tupperware and Wyeth.

Deck, who was based in Linklaters' Cologne office, joined legacy firm Oppenhoff & Raedler in 1992 and became a partner at Linklaters when the firms merged in 2001.

He becomes the latest addition to the Hasche Sigle ranks following the hire last year of a 28-lawyer Moscow team from defunct German independent Haarmann Hemmelrath, with five of those lawyers becoming partners.

Hasche Sigle now has around 480 lawyers throughout offices across Germany and in Brussels, Belgrade, Moscow and Shanghai.

Commenting on the latest hire, managing partner Cornelius Brandi said: "We have now strengthened our competence in patent law and stressed the importance of our Duesseldorf office in this area."
