Commercial and employment set Temple Court Chambers has become one of the few sets to launch a series of overseas offices.

The chambers opened operations in Saint Vincent and Colombo last week (2 May) after transferring barristers and will now seek to hire local lawyers. Barristers Ron Jenkins and Harshaka Kannangara will head the Saint Vincent and Colombo branches respectively.

The chambers will focus on offshore work, specialising in commercial and shipping cases.

Temple Court, which already has a Dhaka outpost, is one of the few sets with overseas operations. Brick Court Chambers has a Brussels office, XXIV Old Buildings has a Geneva base and 3 Stone Buildings has a New York arm.

Temple Court employment tenant Kevin Harris commented: "This is something solicitors have been doing for a long time and the Bar is lagging behind. The Bar will have to look at overseas links in the future."
