CC and LeBoeuf lead Telefonica's Endemol sale
Clifford Chance (CC) has bagged a lead role on the €2.62bn (£1.78bn) acquisition of a 75% stake in Dutch television company Endemol from Spanish telecoms group Telefonica. The deal, which closed yesterday (14 May), sees a consortium comprising Italian media company Mediaset and Spanish subsidiary Gestevision Telecinco, Endemol founder John De Mol and a Goldman Sachs fund acquire Endemol Investment Holding, which owns a 75% stake in Endemol.

Clifford Chance (CC) has bagged a lead role on the €2.62bn (£1.78bn) acquisition of a 75% stake in Dutch television company Endemol from Spanish telecoms group Telefonica.
The deal, which closed yesterday (14 May), sees a consortium comprising Italian media company Mediaset and Spanish subsidiary Gestevision Telecinco, Endemol founder John De Mol and a Goldman Sachs fund acquire Endemol Investment Holding, which owns a 75% stake in Endemol.
CC is fielding a team from its Amsterdam office to advise the consortium, headed by corporate partner Joachim Fleury.
LeBoeuf Lamb Greene & MacRae is advising Telefonica, which acquired Endemol in 2000, fielding teams in New York, Paris and London. Manhattan-based Telefonica relationship partner Berge Setrakian is leading the deal, with corporate partners Joseph Ferraro, Stephen Walters and Margaret Civetta leading in London, Paris and New York respectively.
Italian independent Chiomenti is advising longstanding client Mediaset on competition issues. Competition partner Stefania Bariatti and corporate partner Paolo Tomasso are leading the Chiomenti team.
Dutch independent firm Brada Kuttner is advising Telefonica on local law, through name partner Jouke Brada, while De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek corporate partner Jaap de Keijzer advised Endemol.
Benelux giant Stibbe is advising De Mol's investment vehicle, Cryte Investments, with Amsterdam corporate partner Bjorn van der Klip leading the team.
Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer is understood to have landed a role advising the consortium on financing aspects of the deal.
As part of the agreement, the consortium is committed to making an unconditional bid for the remaining 25% share capital of Endemol, which is best known for making reality television shows including Big Brother.
