Recently-merged financial services group Egg & Citi UK Consumer has appointed a new head of legal following the combination of the two companies in May.

Tom Crane – the former Egg general counsel for Europe, the Middle East and Africa -was confirmed as the new head of the combined group's legal team today (22 June).

The corporate and commercial lawyer was previously counsel at the City office of Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr, where he worked on the sale of Citi's European credit card acquiring business.

The appointment follows Citi's £546m.acquisition of Egg Banking from Prudential earlier this year, forming a business with over four million customers.

Citi Consumer has a network of five retail banking and 49 consumer finance branches, providing current accounts, wealth management, offshore banking and mortgages.

Egg, meanwhile, offers online payment and account aggregation services, credit cards, personal loans, savings accounts and insurance products.
