Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has relocated US-qualified corporate partner Stuart Grider from London to Hong Kong, the City giant announced today (28 June).

Grider, who became a partner earlier this year, has practised in London since joining the magic circle firm in 2002.

The move comes after Freshfields made up five new partners internally across its Asian network earlier this year, including promotions in Hong Kong, Beijing and Shanghai, and transferred corporate partners James Woods and Ed Cole from London to Tokyo.

Earlier this month the firm named Hong Kong corporate partner Teresa Ko as its new China managing partner after former group head Douglas Markel left to join Simpson Thacher & Bartlett.

Commenting on the latest move, Ko said the transfer of Grider would "further drive the growth of [Freshfields'] US securities practice in Asia and in particular China".

Meanwhile, Freshfields has boosted its Dubai office with the appointment of financial services specialist Aryan Schoorl, who joins the firm as a senior associate.

Schoorl moves from the Dubai Financial Services Authority, where his responsibilities included overseeing the Dubai International Financial Exchange.
