Eversheds has won its third major panel appointment so far this year, landing the role of Samsung Electronics' main UK legal adviser.

The firm, which beat national outfit Shoosmiths and Scots law firm Dundas & Wilson to win the work, is set to undertake commercial, human resources, pensions, litigation, real estate and corporate work for Samsung.

Baker & McKenzie has been named as the company's adviser for immigration matters.

Samsung UK and European in-house lawyers Julie Disney and Jon East led the six-month review, which aimed to drive down costs. It is the first time the company has held such a review in the UK, where Samsung previously instructed around 20 firms.

Eversheds, which will run the work out of a number of its network offices, also stands to pick up additional intellectual property work and competition work as needed.

The appointment is the latest high-profile panel win for Eversheds in recent months. Earlier this year Tyco and Akzo-Nobel both named Eversheds as their primary legal adviser – gifting the firm lucrative full-service contracts.

Eversheds litigation partner John Kemkers, who led the Samsung pitch, said: "Samsung is one of the largest electronics companies in the world and we are hugely excited about the prospect of working with them. Picking up the firmwide mandate shows that companies recognise the true value of a full-service firm and our ability to use network law as a key differentiator."

Samsung is one of the biggest electronics companies in the world, with annual revenues of $142bn (£70.5bn) and more than 220,000 employees worldwide.
