Shepherd and Wedderburn and Travers Smith have taken the key roles on the £200m listing of Cayman Islands investment company Leaf Clean Energy Company, one of the largest Alternative Investment Market (AIM) fundraisings so far this year.

Shepherds advised Leaf Clean on the fundraising and flotation under corporate finance partner Robert Lyons. Travers was instructed by Cenkos Securities, which acted as nominated adviser on the initial public offering. Corporate finance partner Philip Cheveley led the team.

Leaf Clean was formed for the purpose of acquiring interests in, owning, operating and managing clean energy projects, primarily in North America. These include renewable energy projects and those that reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Leaf Clean also instructs Chadbourne & Parke in the US and Maples and Calder in Cayman.

Travers has done much of Cenkos' work since its 2006 AIM listing, including advising it as nomad to the £30m placing of Diamondcorp in February.

Shepherds has had a strong recent run in capital markets. At the end of last year the Scots firm advised trophy client Cairn Energy on its £3.2bn flotation of subsidiary Cairn India.
