Davies Arnold Cooper (DAC) is in formal merger talks with 45-lawyer City practice KSB Law, it was announced today (7 August).
Discussions between the two firms have already progressed to an advanced stage, with a further announcement pencilled in for early September.
A tie-up between the two firms would forge a substantial 205-lawyer national practice with offices in St Albans, Manchester, Spain and Mexico outside the City.
A deal would also mark the second merger in the space of nine months for 67-partner DAC, after the London stalwart agreed a union last October with Manchester construction boutique Moore & Co.
News of the latest merger bid comes after DAC earlier this year installed construction specialist Rowan Planterose as its new managing partner, replacing veteran chief David Hertzell.
KSB is based in Fetter Lane and operates an office in St Albans. The City law firm is best-known for its employment and commercial property expertise.
Commenting on the planned tie-up, DAC senior partner Danny Gowan said: "The synergies between KSB Law's practice and [our own] are encouraging, particularly within real estate and employment. There is a natural fit between our respective practice areas."
