Bingham McCutchen has strengthened its London litigation team with the hire of Essex Court Chambers barrister Sue Prevezer QC, the US law firm announced today (10 September).

Prevezer – who will join the Boston-based firm's partnership once she has passed the Qualified Lawyers Transfer Test – specialises in advising funds and other financial institutions on insolvencies and related litigation.

Prevezer has represented bondholders and other creditors on major restructuring cases including Eurotunnel, TXU, T&N, Marconi and Enron.

The hire is a boost to Bingham, which recently lost its most senior London litigation partner, Neil Micklethwaite, who left to set a up a niche immigration boutique.

Bingham London managing partner James Roome, who co-heads the firm's financial restructuring practice, commented: "In the last year, there has been a significant rise in new restructurings and we anticipate an even busier period ahead. Sue's extensive expertise and dynamic personality will be an invaluable addition to our team."

Bingham now has around 40 lawyers in its London office, 12 of whom are partners.
