M&A
Linklaters corporate partner Aedamar Comiskey, assisted by corporate associate Sophie Harith-Kassim, has advised materials science company Cookson Group on its £497m acquisition of steel-making products supplier Foseco. Foseco was advised by Ashurst corporate partner Bruce Hanton.
Wedlake Bell has advised commercial property agency Edwin Hill on its £26.9m sale to Canadian property and professional services company Altus Group. Wedlake Bell corporate partner Tony Lane advised Edwin Hill on its disposal. Altus was advised by in-house general counsel Rose Oushalkas and Canadian firm Goodmans. Bird & Bird corporate partner Simon Fielder advised Altus on UK law.
Travers Smith corporate partner Paul Dolman has advised Promethean Investments and management on the £75m secondary buy-out of UK lifestyle data company DLG Holdings to Kaupthing Bank. Pinsent Masons corporate partners Andrew Masraf and Darius Lewington advised Kaupthing Bank's private equity arm while the banking arm was advised by DLA Piper finance partner Peter Crichton. Linklaters corporate partner Ian Bagshaw (pictured above) advised DLG Holdings' management.
MBOs
Addleshaw Goddard corporate partner Andrew Carpenter has advised the management of West Cornwall Pasty Company on its £35m management buy-out, which was backed by Gresham Private Equity. DLA Piper fielded a team led by banking partner David Miles and corporate partner David Raff advising Gresham. Berwin Leighton Paisner banking partner Michael Ewart advised Lloyds TSB Acquisition Finance, which provided the debt.
Travers Smith has advised Barclays Private Equity on the £75.5m management buy-out of oil and gas product service providers Hydrasun Group. Corporate partner Paul Dolman (pictured below), assisted by competition partner Margaret Moore, led the Travers team. DLA Piper corporate associate Jeff Soal advised the selling shareholders while management was advised by Paull & Williamsons corporate partner Scott Allan. Dickson Minto advised debt provider Barclays Bank.
PROPERTY
Pinsent Masons is advising House of Fraser on its move to new headquarters in Baker Street in spring 2008. The move will see House of Fraser lease a 50,000 sq ft space in the building. Property partner Richard Daffern led the Pinsents team. SJ Berwin property partner William Boss advised Marks & Spencer.
FINANCE
Bond Pearce has advised air operator British International on the transfer of its banking relationship from the Bank of Scotland to the Bank of Ireland and the acceptance of new banking facilities totalling £12.5m. Banking associate Philip Withey led the team advising British International. Osborne Clarke banking partner Omar Al-Nuaimi, assisted by banking associate Chris Gratton, advised Bank of Ireland. Bank of Scotland was advised by DLA Piper restructuring solicitor David Ampaw.

J. Brugh Lower of Gibbons has entered an appearance for industrial equipment supplier Devco Corporation in a pending trademark infringement lawsuit. The suit, accusing the defendant of selling knock-off Graco products, was filed Dec. 18 in New Jersey District Court by Rivkin Radler on behalf of Graco Inc. and Graco Minnesota. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Zahid N. Quraishi, is 3:24-cv-11294, Graco Inc. et al v. Devco Corporation.
