Beachcroft has deployed a 90-lawyer team to work with property client Balfour Beatty on a pro bono project to renovate a primary school in the West Midlands.

The national firm provided lawyers from its London, Manchester, Leeds and Bristol offices and raised a total of £13,000 for the project, which was designed as an alternative to a traditional staff away-day.

The firm teamed up with Balfour Beatty to complete a major overhaul of St John Bosco Primary School in Sandwell near Wolverhampton. The UK construction giant provided equipment and four employees.

The project, part of a 'Business in the Community' national volunteering campaign for workers, included a complete overhaul of the school's largest classroom and its outside playing area.

Picnic and games tables, bird boxes, sandpits and a greenhouse were installed following extensive re-turfing, paving and the creation of a series of flower beds.

Beachcroft national commercial property chief Virginia Clegg, who coordinated the project, commented: "We were delighted to have the opportunity to get out of the office and put our combined forces to some good within a local community. We hope to have made a real difference to the look and feel of the school."
