Weil Gotshal & Manges has announced its latest round of partner promotions, with the US firm's City arm picking up two new partners.

Weil Gotshal elected a total of 21 lawyers to partner across the firm as a whole, with seven of the new partners based across the New York law firm's European network.

In London, Pierre Agyeman has been made a partner in the office's securitisation team, where he has spent eight years working with City securitisation chief Jacky Kelly. Agyeman specialises in residential mortgage-backed securitisations and collateralised debt obligations.

Capital markets associate Peter Schwartz, who is qualified in both the UK and the US, is the other new partner in London.

Meanwhile, London litigation lawyer Peter van Keulen – who heads up the firm's London employment practice – has been promoted to of counsel. Van Keulen is one of seven new counsel made up worldwide.

The promotions represent an increase on last year's tally in London, when just one new partner was made up in the City from a total of 20 promotions globally.

Commenting on the appointments, Weil Gotshal City chief Mike Francies said: "We are thrilled that Pierre, Peter and Peter have joined the partnership and counsel ranks. They have each made an enormous contribution to the firm already and are very well regarded by our clients."

He added: "A third of the partner appointments made by the firm this year are in Europe, showing our ongoing commitment to investing in our international operations and giving our associates every opportunity and encouragement to develop their careers within the firm."
