DLA Piper has promoted a record number to its global partnership, with 69 lawyers taking up new roles, it was announced today (7 January).

The promotions, which took effect from 1 January, saw 41 new partners made up across Europe and Asia plus a further 28 in the US.

London gains more promotions than any other new office, with 12 made up across six practice areas. Three promotions come in corporate – Ed Griffiths, Julian Mathews and Kiran Sharma.

Five promotions came in the Manchester office, with three in Leeds and a single new partner in Sheffield.

DLA Piper's German office saw seven partner promotions, while Dubai and Brussels grew by three new partners each. The remaining seven promotions in Europe and Asia were spread across Madrid, Milan, Oslo, Vienna and Hong Kong.

In the US over half of the 28 new partners were women, with 15 promoted across a range of practice areas.

In addition to the 69 new partners, the transatlantic giant has promoted 29 lawyers to the position of legal director, with 145 made up to associate.

DLA Piper joint chief executive Nigel Knowles commented: "This year we promoted a record number of talented lawyers across the firm's global platform. These new partners have demonstrated their skills, commitment and ability to look after our clients around the world."
