International fast-food giant Domino's Pizza has appointed former Autonation legal chief Ken Rollin as its new general counsel.

Rollin, who joined Florida-based Autonation – one of the largest car retailers in the US – in 2000, was previously a senior lawyer at US pharmacy chain Walgreen, where he set up the company's in-house litigation department.

Rollin said: "I'm honoured to join the leadership council of Domino's Pizza and look forward to a long and exciting career with this global company and household name."

Domino's chief executive David Brandon said: "We were fortunate to have many outstanding candidates emerge from our national search process and Ken impressed us by having the credentials, experience and engaging personality that we were looking for in our new general counsel."

In December the food group's UK arm announced that it had started a search for its first UK-based general counsel.

Domino's has previously used a legal consultancy to look after its legal affairs on a part-time basis. Its new general counsel will manage a stable of external advisers that includes Field Fisher Waterhouse, McDermott Will & Emery, Osborne Clark and Reed Smith.

Domino's is one of the world's largest fast-food companies, with annual revenues of $1.4bn (£745m) and more than 8,500 outlets in 55 countries.
