Salans has hired public law partner Marc Fornacciari from French independent firm Jeantet in a boost for its Paris office.

Fornacciari, who specialises in private public partnerships (PPP), joined Jeantet in 2004 after holding a number of in-house roles, including a stint with German utilities firm RWE, which he joined in 2001.

The departure comes six months after Jeantet lost managing partner Georges Terrier, who quit the respected Paris firm alongside corporate partner Christophe Perchet to join the local arm of elite New York outfit Davis Polk & Wardwell. Terrier, a corporate and litigation lawyer, had been Jeantet's managing partner since 2000.

The news marks Salans' second partner-level hire in recent months, with the firm having taken on City-based Hunton & Williams corporate specialist Rob Askew as a partner in January.

The firm last year posted stellar financial results for 2006-07, managing an increase in global revenue of 37% to reach a new high of $282m (£139m) compared to the previous year's figure of $206m (£101.5m).

Salans has more than 750 lawyers globally, including 160 in Paris, and earlier this year promoted 15 new partners, bringing its total partnership to 176.
