Specialist employment set Cloisters has added to its ranks with the capture of a senior barrister from top commercial chambers Fountain Court.

Brian Napier joined Cloisters earlier this month (20 March). He is qualified in both England and Scotland – where he took silk in 2002 – and has a broad practice covering all aspects of employment and discrimination law.

In 2004 Napier, who is an ACAS arbitrator and former law lecturer at Cambridge University, worked alongside Cloisters head of chambers Robin Allen QC on a major disability discrimination case in the House of Lords, Archibald v Fife.

Allen commented: "[Napier] has rightly been described as the 'gold standard' in employment. As Brian is qualified both in Scotland and England, Cloisters' ability to provide top flight employment law advice and advocacy across Great Britain is greatly enhanced.

"Brian is a very distinguished commentator as well as practitioner and we are enormously excited about working with him and introducing him to all our professional clients."

The news comes after fellow employment specialist Sally Cowen joined Cloisters last month from Farrar's Building. Cowen is treasurer of the Employment Law Bar Association.

Meanwhile, Hardwicke Building has taken on intellectual property specialist Madeleine Heal from 5 Raymond Buildings. She has represented major clients including the Football Association and Channel Four.
