Clifford Chance (CC) has moved to strengthen its presence in Saudi Arabia with the relocation of a senior finance lawyer from Dubai.

Mohamed Hamra-Krouha, who is set to become a partner from 1 May, switched from CC's Dubai arm last month to join the firm's Saudi ally, Al Jadaan & Partners.

CC has been in association with Al Jadaan since 2003 and currently has eight lawyers on long-term secondment practising with the Riyadh-based firm.

Commenting on the move, CC Dubai managing partner Graham Lovett said: "The firm has a longstanding commitment to Saudi Arabia. This is a very significant economy in the region and our clients are increasingly focussed on opportunities there."

Al Jadaan founding partner Mohammed Al Jadaan added: "This will be instrumental in deepening the association between the Al Jadaan & Partners… and Clifford Chance."

Hamra-Krouha was among 35 new partners named by CC last week in its latest round of partner promotions. He joined the magic circle firm in 2001 and advises. He has advised on project financing work in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Africa.

The news comes with CC currently awaiting a license to open a new office in Abu Dhabi, joining a raft of City firms to have targeted the Middle East in the last 18 months.
