Minter Ellison has promoted 14 new partners, including one at the Australian law firm's London office.

The firm bolstered its Adelaide practice with the promotion of five new partners, while Melbourne and Brisbane both saw three new partners made up apiece. Sydney and Perth saw one new partner each, as did the Sydney giant's City arm.

Newly-appointed London partner Nigel Clark heads the firm's finance practice in the UK.

Chief executive Guy Tempelton commented: "The promotion of Nigel to partner in our London office recognises the growing number of clients investing in the UK and Europe, and UK and European organisations investing in the Asia Pacific."

The dispute resolution and real estate practices were the main beneficiaries by practice area, with each gaining four new partners. Corporate got three promotions, while there were one apiece in finance, construction, engineering and infrastructure, and human resources received one new partner apiece.

Meanwhile, the firm has also promoted 21 associates to the role of special counsel, marking an increase in promotions to the role from last year, when the firm promoted just seven. The role is aimed at associates that do not wish to pursue partnership.

The firm also promoted 40 associates to senior associate, with all the promotions effective from 1 July.
