DLA Piper's German arm has bolstered its capital markets practice with the hire of a two-partner team from local rival White & Case.

Dr Andreas Meyer-Landrut and Kerstin Schnabel are set to join DLA Piper's Cologne office on 1 August from White & Case in Duesseldorf. They will become partners in the firm's corporate team.

In addition, they will be joined by three associates – Dr Cornelia Wendel, Meike Dresler-Lenz and Uta Carpier.

Meyer-Landrut, who was a partner at White & Case, specialises in initial public offerings, restructuring and public sector M&A, having recently advised on the merger of Broadnet with QSC.

Kerstin, who was a local partner at White & Case, specialises in advising companies preparing for annual general meetings, as well as buyback programmes, subscription rights issues and share capital increases.

DLA Piper German managing partner, Dr Ulrich Juengst said: "Dr Meyer-Landrut and Kerstin Schnabel are leading lawyers who will further extend the capital markets expertise of the corporate practice group in Cologne. Their experience will strengthen the practice and its profile in stock corporation law and capital market transactions."

This is the latest hire for DLA Piper's Cologne office, which earlier this year (March) hired Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer partner Ludger Giesberts to its litigation and regulatory group.

Giesberts, who was accompanied by two Freshfields associates was tasked with developing the team across Germany and Europe.
