National heavyweight Addleshaw Goddard has secured a role advising Nord Anglia Education on its £186m acquisition by Barings Private Equity Asia Group.

The top 20 UK firm advised education, nursery and training provider Nord Anglia Education – a longstanding client – on its purchase by Premier BidCo, an investment vehicle set up by Barings Private Equity Asia Group.

Addleshaws' Manchester-based corporate partner, Philip Goodstone, led the team advising Nord Anglia, assisted by corporate managing associate Ciaran Stone.

The firm has previously advised Nord Anglia Education on a range of deals.

Last August it advised on the sale of its nursery division, Leapfrog Nurseries, to Busy Bees for £31.2m. On that deal, DLA Piper Birmingham corporate head Russell Orme was instructed for Busy Bees.

The firm was also instructed when the company's UK schools portfolio, Nord Schools, was acquired by Gem education for £11.9m in 2004.

Clifford Chance London corporate financial partner Joel Ziff advised Barings. Baring Private Equity Asia specialises in mid-market buy-outs.

The deal is expected to close at the end of August.
