Norton Rose has secured a new panel appointment, winning a post advising the London Thames Gateway Development Corporation (LTGDC), alongside Denton Wilde Sapte.

The three-year appointment will see both firms providing the development company with planning advice, attending committee meetings and negotiating planning obligations.

The appointment marks Norton Rose's first seat on the panel and follows a pitch led by the firm's planning chief Nigel Hewitson, and environment, safety and planning head, Caroline May.

Hewitson said: "This is a brilliant appointment for us because we are very much into urban regeneration – this fits well with our practice. We look forward to being involved in many exciting projects in the months and years to come."

Dentons meanwhile has been reappointed for a second three-year stint with planning head Stephen Ashworth managing the relationship for the firm.

In 2006, Dentons advised on a utility services contract agreed jointly with EDF and Thames Water.

LTGDC is the urban planning company charged with redeveloping two key areas in London – the Lower Lea Valley area and the London Riverside region, which includes Barking and Dagenham, Newham and Havering.

Over the next three years, it is planning to regenerate more than £237m worth of land.
