Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP) has brought in the former vice chair of UK banking at Barclays as a consultant.

Peter Harvey will take up the part-time role on 1 October and will advise the firm on developing relationships with financial institutions and corporates.

Harvey, who has over 30 years experience at Barclays in various roles including chief executive of UK business banking, will work closely with BLP's head of finance Simon Allan.

Allan commented: "[Harvey] is a renowned industry authority with a wealth of experience. Having someone with his knowledge and experience will assist us in providing our clients with strategic advice and allow the team to develop a better understanding of the issues that matter to our banking and corporate clients."

Harvey added: "My new role will provide me with the opportunity to share what I have learnt in order to help BLP create an offering that is even more relevant to its clients in today's banking environment."

The firm's finance practice has 112 fee earners including 35 partners. In April it hired the former head of banking at Bevan Brittan, Phillippa Chadwick, as a partner in the project finance division following a number of partner losses in the practice over the last two years.
