Celebrity divorce lawyer Fiona Shackleton has been confirmed as the UK's most high-profile solicitor, after dominating press coverage of legal professionals over the last 12 months.

Shackleton, who represented Paul McCartney in his divorce from Heather Mills, has featured in 274 national and regional press articles over the past year, according to research by Sweet & Maxwell.

She replaces last year's highest-profile solicitor, Anthony Julius of Mishcon de Reya, who was initially instructed for Mills in her divorce. Julius has fallen to fourth place, with 69 citations in the press.

The former Beatle's divorce has also seen Mr Justice Bennett, who ruled over the divorce proceedings, enter the top 10 members of the judiciary, coming in third place with 354 citations in the press.

The inquiry into the deaths of Diana, Princess of Wales and Dodi Fayed was the other major case to influence the media rankings, and saw coroner Lord Justice Scott Baker rocket to the top of the rankings as the most frequently cited member of the judiciary, receiving 1,079 mentions.

Meanwhile, Michael Mansfield QC, who represented Mohammed Al Fayed at the inquiry, is the most frequently mentioned barrister, named 542 times in the press during the last year.
