Consumer organisation Which? has ended its search for a new head of its Legal Service division by appointing Avon Cosmetics' Steve Coyle.

Coyle was previously head of sales development for Western Europe, the Middle East and Africa at Avon. He replaces Gordon Wilson, who left Which? in August after just one year in the role.

Coyle said: "Which? is a well-known brand and has been providing independent, expert advice to consumers for more than 50 years, so it is a great organisation to work for.

"I am excited to be joining Which? Legal Service as it responds to changes in the legal services market and develops the range of advice it offers."

Which? finance and operations director Martin Webster, who had held the role on a temporary basis following Wilson's departure, added: "Steve's proven track record of success in managing and developing businesses will prove to be a great asset for the organisation.

"His experience and his enthusiasm will help us to build the Which? Legal Service brand as we seek to help more consumers on a greater range of issues."

Which? Legal Service provides consumers with legal advice over the phone, dealing with issues such as employment law, disputes with neighbours and problems with goods and services. It is not part of the organisation's in-house legal function led by general counsel Deborah Prince.
