Ashurst has bolstered its Stockholm office with the hire of capital markets specialist Jon Ericson. Ericson, who joined the firm this week (1 December) as a partner, comes from the investment banking division of Nordic bank Nordea.

Ericson will be the first specialist capital markets lawyer in Ashurst's Stockholm's three-partner corporate team and the sixth partner in the office.

The City law firm's Swedish office only launched at the beginning of last year through a merger with M&A boutique AJB Bergh.

Stockholm corporate head Jonas Bergh said: "We are noticing that we are becoming increasingly well-known in the market and we have a growing client demand, especially on cross-border transactions."

"[Ericson] has the relevant capital markets expertise that we need as we move to grow our corporate practice. In addition he has the added value of experience from the investment banking client's perspective."

Before joining Nordea Corporate Finance two years ago, Ericson was a senior associate at Roschier for one year, having spent six years with Linklaters' Stockholm arm as a managing associate.

The appointment comes as the office adds a senior associate with a transfer from the London office. Swedish national and corporate specialist Mat Hansson moved to Stockholm last week (26 November).
