Tyco's former Europe, Middle East and Asia (EMEA) general counsel Trevor Faure has been named as the new global legal chief of Ernst & Young.

Faure departed Tyco earlier this month (21 January), along with deputy EMEA general counsel Enrique Anzar. He will take up his new post at the beginning of next month, working form Ernst & Young's global headquarters in London.

Commenting on his new position, Faure (pictured) said: "After a number of highly productive and rewarding years at Tyco I am delighted to be joining Ernst & Young.

"It is the most globally integrated organisation in professional services and I am looking forward to the challenges and opportunities that this will bring."

Victoria Cochrane, global managing partner for quality and risk management at Ernst & Young added: "Trevor has worked with some of the world's leading brands and brings this valuable experience at an exciting time for our global organisation. We look forward to welcoming him."

Faure's move to Ernst & Young follows the departure of former global general counsel Jeremy Barton, who left the company in February last year to join the Boston Consulting Group (click here to read Legal Week's interview with Barton).

Following Faure's departure, Tyco has scrapped its EMEA general counsel position, with global general counsel Judy Reinsdorf appointing David Symonds, chief lawyer for Tyco's Flow Control business, to take on the majority of Faure's responsibilities.
