They will be asked how their firm's technology offering helps or hinders them in their daily working lives. In a downturn, the ability to know which tolls can make your lawyers more efficient is more important than ever. We benchmark law firms against each other but also against accountants.

Criteria

Firms will be assessed by a series of 50 different questions covering the following areas:

- Service and Support: covers the vital issues of speed and security but we also assess 6 other distinct areas including reliability, system personalisation and mobility. Outlining exactly how satisfied lawyers in the UK's leading law firms are with the general level of support they receive from their technology teams.

- Transactional Tools: what tools do lawyers rely on to conduct a normal transaction? Identifying 5 critical stages all the way from initial pitching to client care? Including CRM, KM, Video conferencing, billing and client feedback systems. How could the component parts run smoother?

- Strategy and management: find out how much partners know about the IT strategy and what lawyers think about the reputation of the IT department. Cutbacks in investment and staffing levels and support, so in the current climate which IT departments are viewed as innovative and proactive?
