Serena Davidson, head of legal for group and M&A, told Legal Week: "At the moment we are still considering what to do with the upper tier of M&A work and there are a number of firms knocking on the door.
"The panel structure will be handled on fluid basis and we will reserve the right to look outside to use non-panel firms where we deem it necessary."
The firm has also begun a review of its advisers on employment matters.
The review will be conducted by head of legal employment Richard Horbury and is expected to complete by the end of the second quarter. BUPA currently uses DLA Piper, Beachcroft and Eversheds for employment work.
