Strephenson Harwood has recruited a new global head of aviation with the hire of former Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer partner Paul Ng.

Ng, who joins Stephenson Harwood today (19 March), spent ten years at the magic circle firm before his departure in January. He is an English, US and Singapore qualified lawyer and has experience advising in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing and Singapore.

In his new role, he will be primarily based in Stephenson Harwood's Singapore office but will divide his time between Singapore and the firm's Chinese network.

Stephenson Harwood's aviation practice has more than 20 lawyers specialising in corporate and commercial, restructuring, M&A, regulatory and contentious work.

Ng commented: "Stephenson Harwood [is attractive] particularly because of its premier transport and aviation practice which has seen a rapidly growing presence on the international scene, especially in Asia."

Stephenson Harwood chief executive Sunil Gadhia said: "Paul's reputation as a first-class aviation lawyer will greatly strengthen and complement our already expanding global and Asian aviation practice."

Ng's move follows Stephenson Harwood's hire of Pinsent Masons partner Clare McConnell, who is set to head up a dedicated projects practice for the firm.
