Ashurst has bolstered its Singapore office with the relocation of a senior London corporate partner and the launch of a dispute resolution practice in the region.

The top 10 City firm transferred Susan Roy to Singapore to lead the office's corporate practice earlier this month.

Roy's relocation makes her the first head of corporate for Ashurst's 25-lawyer Singapore arm, which has previously been overseen by office managing partner Matthew Bubb. Roy – whose practice focuses on M&A, including private equity and equity capital raisings – is the fourth partner in the office.

Separately, the firm is moving senior associate Ben Giaretta to Singapore at the beginning of May to launch the disputes practice. The firm has yet to decide whether it will hire lawyers locally for the practice.

Ashurst's Asia head and former senior partner, Geoffrey Green, commented on the move: "Susan is a highly experienced corporate lawyer and there is not much she has not done. With a small team it is important to have a leader with a broad experience."

He added: "We are committed to building up our practice in Asia but we will do so through a measured approach."
