SJ Berwin has announced this year's promotions, with six made up to the firm's partnership.

Half of the new partners are based in London, while two have been made up in Frankfurt and one in Paris. All promotions are effective as of 1 May.

In London, the EU & competition practice receives two of the promotions, with Cameron Firth and Philipp Girardet made up. The third City partner is real estate specialist Angus Evers.

The firm's corporate group receives two of the promotions, one in Frankfurt and one in Paris, with the other Frankfurt promotion coming in the firm's tax practice.

The total number of new partners is two down from last year when the SJ Berwin made up eight. The firm made up a record 16 in 2007 and 13 in 2006.

The firm's partnership advisory committee was chaired by managing partner Ralph Cohen, who commented: "The energy and commitment of these lawyers has made a tremendous impression on their clients and colleagues alike. We are delighted to welcome them into the partnership."

Senior partner Jonathan Blake added: "These promotions demonstrate our continuing focus on strengthening and deepening our pan-European practice."
