Watson Farley & Williams has made up five associates to the firm's partnership, with none of the promotions coming in the firm's London office.

Christian Ulrich, Lindsey Keeble, Furio Samela, Marcus Gordon and Nicholas Hanna will all become partners on 1 May, bringing the firm's global partnership to 91.

The firm's Singapore office sees two new partners, while Rome, Paris and Hamburg each receive one new partner apiece.

The firm has bolstered its corporate and finance practices with the addition of two new partners in each team, while litigation sees one new partner.

The promotions mark a decrease from last year when the firm made up nine.

Commenting on the promotions, firm managing partner Michael Greville said: "This year's promotions are in recognition of individuals who have excelled in performance and reflects the significance of our international offering at [the firm]."

The promotions put the firm in line with a raft of other firms promoting fewer partners this year as compared to 2008.

City rival Hammonds revealed last week (24 April) that it was promoting six lawyers to its partnership, marking a significant drop on the previous year when the firm made up 19.
