Brown Rudnick has bolstered its City litigation practice with the hire of a team of lawyers from immigration, human rights and litigation boutique Gherson.

Neil Micklethwaite, previously a partner with both Bingham McCutchen and DLA Piper, will join Brown Rudnick as a partner on 6 July along with one associate and two trainees.

Micklethwaite's hire will make him the fifth litigation partner in Brown Rudnick's London litigation practice. His practice focuses on cross-border investigations of businesses affected by fraud and corporate failures.

Scott Burns London managing partner at Brown Rudnick told Legal Week: "Our litigation team has had a great year with some notable successes. We are incredibly enthused about the strong team joining us and they should be a very good complement to our existing practice."

The move effectively leaves Gherson with Roger Gherson as its sole partner as Jim Sharkey is also thought to be leaving.

Micklethwaite helped found Gherson in August 2007 when he left Bingham, where he had been head of litigation. Before Micklethwaite joined Gherson had been an immigration boutique known as Gherson & Co but rebranded.
Before joining Bingham Micklethwaite served as a partner at DLA Piper where he was head of litigation and a board member.
