Birmingham's Hill Hofstetter is bulking up with a trio of lateral hires, following its spin-off from Reed Smith earlier this year.

Hammonds former Birmingham dispute resolution partner Ann Benzimra is set to join Hill Hofstetter at the beginning of August. She will join disputes partner Jim Sharkey, who is set to start this week (9 July) from immigration, human rights and litigation boutique Gherson.

In addition Hill Hofstetter has bolstered its real estate practice with the hire of former Eversheds property partner and Birmingham commercial development team head Sue Simpson. Simpson, who joined last month, specialises in complex site assembly and development, joint ventures and mixed-use schemes.

The three hires take the number of partners at the firm – which focuses on litigation, property, corporate and employment law – to 14. The appointments are the first partner hires Hill Hofstetter has made since it span off from Reed Smith in January.

Hill Hofstetter litigation partner Stephen Barker commented: "We have been well placed to take advantage of a favourable recruitment market and to grow the firm with very high quality people to work with a good calibre of clients both in the UK and internationally."
