"I'm six months qualified, but have more than the usual amount of experience in my chosen area of law. I gained paralegal experience in the public sector, trained at a small firm and then joined an international firm as an NQ.

"I thought things were going really well – I'd been praised by clients and the partners in my department and had made all my targets. I was even going to extra seminars, helping out with CSR and networking.

"That was until I was given the bad news that I'd basically been used as a stop-gap until the firm's own trainees were ready to qualify in September. I have been given the push to make way for them.

"I'm now very unsure where to go next. I have a few interviews lined up but am doubting my own judgement. This experience has really made me wonder whether I want to go to another big firm to be treated so badly. I want to be doing first-class work as I know I'm more than capable, but I don't want to end up at a firm which isn't interested in investing in training and development. What I should be looking for in my next firm when attending interviews?"
