Field Fisher makes eighth partner appointment of the year with addition of Halliwells litigation partner

Field Fisher Waterhouse has made its eighth lateral partner hire so far this year, with the City law firm set to boost its disputes practice.

Commercial litigation partner Michael Mulligan will join the dispute resolution practice on 1 September from Halliwells, bringing with him a practice focused on contentious insolvency, asset recovery and fraud work.

In addition to sitting within the disputes practice Mulligan, who had been at Halliwells for eight years including two as a partner, will also form part of Field Fisher's cross-practice business recovery and insolvency team, headed by partner Robin Tutty.

His hire will take the number of partners in the London disputes team to 10, with a further 20 assistants, headed by contentious travel and tourism specialist Peter Stewart.

Stewart said: "We have been expanding our activities in dispute resolution over the last few years and an increase of the workflow means that Michael's experience in insolvency-related matters will be a huge boost to the practice."

Field Fisher's most recent hires in the disputes practice were last year when the firm recruited Kit Jarvis from Howrey in May and Tony Lewis from Peters & Peters.

Field Fisher has made a number of hires recently, this week bringing in infrastructure partner Richard Temple from Osborne Clarke into the firm's CIS and CEE group.

Other recent additions include technology partner Nick Holland from Eversheds, corporate partner Tim Bee from Addleshaw Goddard and a three-lawyer planning team from Bevan Brittan.

Earlier this year tax partner Derek Hill joined from Herbert Smith, while Tim Johnson moved from SJ Berwin to head the cross-practice media group.
