LG international private capital practice head Andrew Young is leaving the firm to join wealth management business Opus Group.

Young has spent more than a decade at LG, having joined as a partner from legacy firm Alsop Wilkinson in 1997. He will continue to be based in Dubai – where Opus recently opened up a new base – having relocated to LG's office in the emirate last year.

Opus, which also has a presence in Guernsey and London, has been a client of Young for several years and views his recruitment as an important part of its expansion strategy.

Shane Giles, founder and managing director of Opus commented: "We have worked with Andrew for many years while he was in private practice, and are delighted that he has decided to join our growing business."

Young will leave his post at LG on 31 October and begin work at Opus the next day. At present, the firm says it will not be sending anyone out to Dubai to replace him, with visiting partners from London set to take over Young's duties.

Commenting on the move, Young, who began his career with Coward Chance (now Clifford Chance) in 1984, said: "After 25 years in private practice, I am very excited to be joining the highly motivated and extremely dynamic team at Opus and look forward to helping drive the business forward in its next phase of growth."

Anthony Thompson, head of private capital at LG's London headquarters, added: "We are sad to see Andrew leave LG and wish him all the best in his new venture. We look forward to working with him in his new role."
