Roschier has elected a new chairman with Stockholm managing partner Axel Calissendorff to step into the role later this year (30 November), replacing Tomas Lindholm.

Earlier this year Calissendorff was named as co-senior partner alongside Lindholm as the first step in a succession plan for the firm's management, with Ulf-Henrik Kull replacing Lennart Simonsen as managing partner.

Calissendorff will become the firm's sole senior partner from December onwards, with Lindholm leaving to join a corporate and arbitration boutique launched earlier this year by former Roschier partner Carita Wallgren-Lindholm.

Calissendorff's appointment is further evidence of the Finnish firm's efforts to increase its focus in the wider Nordic region, as Calissendorff is based in Stockholm and is currently head of the firm's Swedish operations.

Calissendorff commented: "Tomas has led Roschier through its important stages of development, from a prominent internationally-oriented Finnish firm to a leading Northern European player. Under his leadership, the firm seems to have made the right choices at all important crossroads during some rather challenging times."

Roschier launched in Stockholm in 2005 through the hire of M&A partner Calissendorff from Mannheimer Swartling, Sweden's largest firm. The Swedish base has since grown to around 50 lawyers, and last year notably added a disputes practice with the hire of rated Mannheimer Swartling litigation partner Claes Lundblad.

Roschier has also operated a Baltic association network named RoschierRaidla in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania since 2004.
