Linklaters has reappointed Bruce White as the firm's global head of projects for a second four-year term.

White, who has been a partner at the magic circle firm since 1995, was first appointed as projects chief in 2005, replacing Alan Black, who had spent 12 years in the role.

Since then the practice has grown to a total of 150 lawyers, and this year topped the global projects rankings at the half-year point, according to research from Infrastructure Journal.

The firm led the global rankings by value for the first six months of this year after scoring roles on 15 deals worth a total of $7.6bn (£4.7bn). The performance gave the firm a market share of more than 5%, placing it marginally ahead of magic circle rival Clifford Chance.

White is credited as being one of the main players in developing the firm's private finance initiative (PFI) and public-private partnerships (PPP) practice, having headed up the group before taking on the global role.

In recent years much of his practice has focused on work for the Ministry of Defence, including the Future Strategic Tanker Aircraft project – the largest defence PFI project seen in the UK to date. He is currently advising the Department for Transport on the Crossrail project in London.
