Covington & Burling has added 10 new partners in its annual promotions round, with one made up in London.

Corporate intellectual property (IP) partner Lucinda Osborne becomes the eighteenth partner in the US firm's City office. Her practice covers all transactional matters for a range of pharmaceutical and biotech clients.

The remaining nine new partners all come in Covington's Washington headquarters across the firm's litigation, employment, IP and corporate practices.

Last year Covington elected 12 lawyers to its global partnership, including two in its London office. Corporate lawyer Greg Frizzell and privacy and data lawyer Daniel Cooper both joined the firm's City partnership.

In May Covington bolstered its City ranks with the double partner hire of Daniel Pavin from Taylor Wessing and Gaetan Verhoosel from the London arm of Debevoise & Plimpton.

Covington has made a number of recent counsel appointments in London, including Stephen Bond, who joined as a senior counsel from White & Case, where he was co-head of the international arbitration practice. Meanwhile, February saw Covington boost its City IP practice with the hire of counsel Morag Peberdy from Herbert Smith.
