Ex-Bar Council chair Vos appointed as High Court judge
Former Bar Council Chairman Geoffrey Vos QC has been appointed as a High Court judge. The appointment will see the 3 Stone Buildings member take up his new role as a Justice of the High Court in the Chancery Division later this month (27 October) following the retirement of Mr Justice Blackburne.

Former Bar Council Chairman Geoffrey Vos QC has been appointed as a High Court judge.
The appointment will see the 3 Stone Buildings member take up his new role as a Justice of the High Court in the Chancery Division later this month (27 October) following the retirement of Mr Justice Blackburne.
Vos, who was Bar Council chair during 2007-08, was called to the Bar in 1977 and took Silk in 1993. He was appointed as a Judge of the Courts of Appeal of Jersey and Guernsey in 2005.
Other notable appointments include chairman of the Professional Standards Committee of the Bar Council from 2004 to 2005 and chairman of the Fees Collection Committee of the Bar Council from 1995 to 2004, as well as chair of the Chancery Bar Association from 1999 to 2001.
Following his stint as Bar Council chair Vos took up a role as chairman of the trustees of the Social Mobility Foundation – a charity which offers career assistance to youngsters from underprivileged backgrounds.
Vos has been involved in a number of high-profile cases, including being instructed by Slaughter and May to represent Nationwide in the bank charges dispute.
Mr Justice Blackburne, who Vos will succeed, was called to the Bar in 1966 and took Silk in 1984. He was appointed a Judge of the Chancery Division of the High Court in 1993.

J. Brugh Lower of Gibbons has entered an appearance for industrial equipment supplier Devco Corporation in a pending trademark infringement lawsuit. The suit, accusing the defendant of selling knock-off Graco products, was filed Dec. 18 in New Jersey District Court by Rivkin Radler on behalf of Graco Inc. and Graco Minnesota. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Zahid N. Quraishi, is 3:24-cv-11294, Graco Inc. et al v. Devco Corporation.
