Two partners from Linklaters' India group have stepped down to join the City giant's local referral partner Talwar Thakore & Associates (TT&A).

Singapore-based finance partner Narayan Iyer and Hong Kong corporate partner Kunal Thakore will join the partnership at TT&A on 1 December. Iyer and Thakore were founding members of the magic circle law firm's India group, joining Linklaters in 1996 and 2000 respectively.

In addition, Feroz Dubash and Kiran Khanna, currently managing associates at Linklaters, will become partners at TT&A in Mumbai effective from April 2010.

Linklaters managing partner Simon Davies (pictured) commented: "These developments are great news for our clients who are active in India and will further enhance our best friends relationship with TT&A."

Linklaters formed its relationship with TT&A in early 2007 with the launch of the Indian firm by Suresh Talwar and Shobhan Thakore.

September last year also saw Linklaters strike up a referral alliance with boutique Vinod Dhall to address new competition laws in India.

Linklaters' India group consists of 19 lawyers and two partners across Europe and Asia headed up by corporate partner Sandeep Katwala.

Talwar, founding partner at TT&A, said: "The appointments reflect our commitment to meet increasing client demand. I would also like to welcome Narayan and Kunal who bring substantial corporate and finance experience to TT&A. Their move is a significant step in the development of our finance and corporate practices and our relationship with Linklaters."
