Eversheds International has made five new lateral partner hires, with the network bulking up in South Africa, the Netherlands and Switzerland.

The firm's Johannesburg office has seen the bulk of the hires, with the addition of three new partners. Mondli Sibisi and Sibusiso Masondo have joined the resources and finance group from DLA Piper's South African ally Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr and local firm Khumalo Masondo respectively.

Kumesheran Moodley has joined the Johannesburg litigation team from Fairbridges Attorneys in Cape Town. Eversheds added South Africa to its network last year with the integration of local firm Routledge Modise, which rebranded as Eversheds earlier this year.

Eversheds' Dutch arm Eversheds Faasen, which also joined the network last year, has expanded with the hire of corporate partner Tom van Wijngaarden from Herbert Smith's Benelux ally, Stibbe.

Meanwhile, the Swiss practice has hired tax partner Andreas Kolb from Niederer Kraft & Frey. With the exception of Kolb, all the new partners were partners with their previous firms.

The additions come after Eversheds bulked up in Germany with the hire of German patent law partners Herbert Kunz and Michael Schneider from Hammonds' Munich office last month.

Commenting on the expansion of the international partnership, Eversheds head of international, Stephen Hopkins, said: "These hires demonstrate that we are still investing and growing in key jurisdictions. Africa is a particular area of interest for us as we see increasing investment in the region from a number of corporate clients."
