Autonomy emerged as winner for its Autonomy iManage product, which aims to make it easier for law firms and legal departments to cope with the mountain of data that they must process on an ongoing basis. Autonomy iManage helps its customers store, organise and locate this information, whatever format it is in. It is used by 75% of the Legal Week/The American Lawyer Global 100 law firms and more than 1,400 law firms and professional services organisations worldwide. Recent clients include SJ Berwin and Osborne Clarke.
The product allows lawyers and staff to organise all the content relating to a case whether it be in the form of documents, emails, audio files or video. At the heart of Autonomy iManage is a powerful, fast and easy-to-use search engine that can search external and internal sources. It is possible to use Autonomy iManage to tap into a law firm's knowledge base by identifying individuals who have worked on specific cases or deals or worked with certain clients.
Law firms can also manage and monitor the flow of information in order to perform a range of important management functions, including the policing of conflicts, information walls and ethical standards. Autonomy iManage is also targeted at in-house legal departments as it allows them to devise and monitor retention policies for their company's data. If companies are involved in investigations or litigation, the product allows their lawyers to preserve and collect relevant information.
