Dewey & LeBoeuf has left London out of its latest promotions round, with the firm making up six new partners.

The lion's share of the promotions come in the US firm's New York office, which has received four new partners, with the other two promotions coming in Hong Kong and Milan.

Four of the promotions come in the firm's corporate practice, with two in litigation. The promotions are effective as of 1 January.

This year's total marks a significant drop on 2008, when the firm made up 20 new partners, including three in London – tax partner Julio Castro and corporate partners Emma Pond and Fabio Pizzoccheri.

Dewey chairman Steven Davis (pictured) said: "On behalf of the firm, I would like to congratulate each of these individuals on achieving this well-deserved career milestone. These individuals bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to their respective practice areas and will continue our tradition of providing the highest quality service to our clients."

The news comes just weeks after Reed Smith announced that it was promoting 18 associates into the firm's partnership, with real estate lawyer Richard Ceeney made up in London. Last year the firm made up 22 new partners across all of its offices.
