Mallesons Stephen Jaques has appointed a new chairman with M&A partner Tim Bednall set to take up the role at the beginning of January.
Bednall (pictured) will succeed current chairman Frank Zipfinger, whose five-year term comes to an end on 31 December. Bednall has been a partner with Mallesons since 2004 when he joined from Australian rival Allens Arthur Robinson, where he was head of M&A.
Commenting on the new appointment, outgoing chairman Zipfinger said: "Tim is well connected in both the legal and corporate arenas and brings a broad base of experience to the chairman's role that will undoubtedly benefit the firm strategically in the years ahead."
He added: "I have enjoyed the role immensely over the last five years. Mallesons is today in the strongest market position that it has ever been in, due to the hard work of partners, staff and the board. It has been very rewarding to play my part in helping to get the firm to where it is today."
The news comes as Benelux firm NautaDutilh appoints a new board, with current chairman Marc Blom set to be replaced at the helm by Michaela Ulrici on 1 June 2010.
Ulrici has been a partner in Nauta's banking and finance group since 2002, having joined the firm in 1994.
The firm's three-member board will also be made up of Amsterdam employment law group head Warner Roeters van Lennep and Rotterdam-based finance and capital markets partner Erik Geerling.
