Denton Wilde Sapte has strengthened its African referral network with the addition of Libya's Tumi Law Firm.

Dentons entered into the agreement with the nine-lawyer firm in December, formalising a relationship that has seen the two firms work together since 2007.

The agreement will see Dentons refer Libyan work to Tumi and vice versa.

The firms have also agreed to send secondments between the London and Tripoli offices and have committed to holding seminars for each other.

Dentons' Africa committee chief Howard Barrie commented: "This is the same arrangement that we have with our other association firms. If we have work in Libya, we will refer it to Tumi and if Tumi are working on English or French law matters, they will refer their clients to us.

"Most of the work will come on infrastructure and construction joint ventures, plus continuing work in the oil sector."

The Tumi alliance marks the eleventh African association for Dentons, with the firm having already established connections in Algeria, Ghana, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, Rwanda, Mauritius, South Africa and Burundi.

The firm, which was established in 1990 by Dr Mohamed Tumi, advises clients on matters including energy, banking, corporate, telecoms and disputes.
