CMS Cameron McKenna has added a partner to its Warsaw office with the hire of a senior in-house lawyer.

Irek Piecuch has joined the UK top 15 firm from leading Polish telecoms operator TPSA, where he was head of strategy, a role that he took on after serving as general counsel. He also worked as regional counsel at IBM before joining TPSA.

Piecuch will have a special brief to develop the firm's regional practice, including advising clients on outsourcing deals. He will work closely with the firm's technology, media and telecoms sector group head John Fitzpatrick, who is based in Bucharest.

Following the hire, Camerons has 27 partners and 199 fee earners in the Warsaw office.

The addition of Piecuch is the second partner hire for the firm in the last two months after the recruitment of former Eversheds partner Andrew Halper to its London office in December.

Halper, a China business specialist, has been hired as part of the firm's ambitions to strengthen its China practice, but will remain based in London.

Meanwhile, Camerons' CMS Russia joint venture lost a partner in December when Moscow infrastructure and projects head Kirill Ratnikov joined the Moscow office of Ukraine-based CIS firm Magisters.
